This post is part of a weekly series of posts showing inspiring websites. I have changed the initial concept and decided to also write a short critic on them, from a webdesign point of view.

Very neat presentation for student housing. The first page illustration is probably attractive to the target (parents and students).
That´s a real header ! Half the screen´s height 
I like the the color scheme and typefont, the logo, the mix between handdrawing and digital techniques. However a bit of animation and of Jquery wouldn´t have hurt…
Joe Lifrieri has achieved a high personalisation of his wordpress blogg,
with many illustration (facebook logo and so on) so we are immediately taken into his own universe.
Soft shadows, transparencies and subtle Jquery transitions. Well done !
The Case study carousel is really neat and the color palette (earth like) is well by completed with a dark blue.
Very minimalist, with big bold typefont, and an original navigation (top right),
this website makes it really easy to find the info you need regarding the festival.
In addition, the dynamic countdown to the festival is a very good idea, and more effective call to action than a simple date reminder.
Both graphic and programming skills rayonnate of this website, as well as a good sense of humour. Everything is taylor-made, nice icons, typefonts, …
The carousel is ENORMOUS and pictures are big and beautiful. And apetizing website….
The subtle water colors, shades of greys and background graphics give this website a very light and pleasant feeling, as well as craft made / homemade.
The accents colors, turquoise blue, orange and green are very visible and access to the main functions is instinctive.
The mix between seif / sans serif is very well balanced and makes it more intersting.
Plus the content of the site is unique and great quality freebies and ressources.
Some videos sometimes enhance the content, with brush making process and so on.
